This is what we are doing all the time, each one of us -- creating personal realities, social and cultural realities, political realties. Worlds both personal and public. The problem is, many of us aren't aware we are doing that:
"Reality just is. What can I do about it?"
You can learn how your choices affect reality for you and for everybody else!
Whether we know it or not,
Every time we make a choice we make a world happen. This is not a particularly mysterious process, but a process we take for granted in the "background" of our consciousness as we as we go about the ordinary activities of our daily lives. For example:
When you choose to watch TV rather than read to your child.
When you choose to yell at the TV instead of write to your congressman.
When you choose to complain about your job instead of looking for a career.
When you choose to watch basketball instead of play basketball.
When you "go along with the crowd" even if secretly you disagree rather than speaking out according to your principles.
When you choose not to think about principles.

One array of choices leaves you feeling sullen and passive because you live in a world where you feel powerless to change what is happening around you. This is your "reality." You aren't happy but don't know what, if anything to do about it.
The other array of choices leaves you feeling alive and hopeful. You've even begun to think about what "good things" are. You live in a world where you feel empowered to make good things happen and to connect with other people to make more good things happen and this is your reality.
